Considering the amount of poisonous substances in this world that may vary from mundane things like nail polish to unusual things like houseplants, it’s important to be able to call Poisoning if you are exposed to something potentially toxic. Unfortunately, if you use Google Fi, this may not be possible at this time.

According to the report 9to5GoogleSome Google Fi users are reported to be unable to call the Poison Control hotline – officially called the Poison Helpline – and receive a message that says, “Your call cannot be dialed.” Users are then given instructions on how to contact Google Fi support. 9to5Google says this problem has been around for several months, citing different streams users without access to Reddit, as well as some anxious experiences

“There was the same fucking problem a couple of months ago when my daughter got sick and managed to remove the protective cover from the baby. [ibuprofen]… Had to call support to answer a bunch of questions, they must have flicked some switch while I was whining because I hung up and tried again and it worked … “a user wrote at the end of July.

However, not all Reddit users have stated that they have problems accessing Poison’s help line. The victims were scattered across the country and used both Android and iOS.

The Poison Help Line is a free federal service that connects US residents with local poison control centers in the event of an emergency and allows them to speak to pharmacists, nurses, doctors, or other poison experts. These experts will then tell you what to do and if you need more help.

The Department of Health Resources and Services, which oversees the program, explains that frequent calls include people who are caring for young children. However, the agency claims that poisoning can happen to anyone, pointing out that most deaths from poisoning occur among adults.

Google told 9to5Google that it is aware of the issue and is investigating.

Gizmodo reached out to Google to confirm the report and ask for comment, but we hadn’t received a response at the time of posting. If we do, we will definitely update this blog.
