Epic Games has expanded the offering of its Online Services, giving developers access to voice communications and anti-deception software for free. The company was originally built Epic Line Services in order Fortnite before releasing it as a tool other developers can use for their creations on any engine or platform at no cost.
This implementation adds Easy Anti-Cheat to the list of tools that developers can access as part of the Epic Online Services SDK. Epic acquired the Helsinki-based company that developed the software in 2018 and uses the anti-betrayal solution. Fortnite. There are hundreds of other games that also use the software to keep cheaters out, such as Mediatonic Fall Guys, who suffered from a very deceptive problem.
Developers will be able to control and impose anti-cheating measures for their game with the help of software. And since Epic plans to provide Easy Anti-Cheat with continuous updates, game creators will have the ability to keep out rogue players even when tricks evolve to evade detection. That said, the software is not perfect and a number of online games that use it are still at odds with the traitors. According to data collected by Surfshark VPN just a couple of months ago, for example, Fortnite it’s the “most cheated online game”. He was three times more deceitful than he was Overwatch, which came in second place, and people searched mostly for aimbots.
Like the other services included in the EOS SDK, the new voice communication feature was also originally used in Epic’s famous Battle Royale game. It allows integrated one-on-one conversations and group chat for users authenticated across all platforms during games and in lobbies. Connections between users are transmitted through Epic Online Services ’proprietary servers, which also manage and operate the voice feature of a game – something that could cost developers millions of dollars – for free.
In addition to launching free voice and anti-deception services for developers, the company also revealed that Epic Games now has more than 500 million accounts with 2.7 billion friend connections in total Fortnite, Rocket League is the Epic Games Store. It is unclear how many of those users have signed up Fortnite only, but the game had 350 million players registered since May last year.
