Sixteen months after the last event with a live crowd, the (CDL) is back once again opening its doors to amateurs. The Stage V Major tournament takes place at the end of the month, and will host the league’s first live matches with fans in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic closes.
All 12 CDL teams are scheduled to participate in the tournament, which takes place from July 29 to August 1. It takes place at Arlington Sports Stadium in Texas, home of the 2020 Dallas Empire champions. Fans will be able to attend over the past two days, with a weekend pass costing $ 59. The league without doing it last month.
The CDL and the (OWL), both managed by Activision Blizzard, plan to hold games in each team’s hometown by 2020. That training didn’t last long before the leagues were forced to to for the season. It was a significant blow for both of them, but perhaps more so for the CDL, who had just started their first season. Sports are much more enjoyable with a crowd, and the future looks brighter for live events.
Meanwhile, OWL is handling a few events with fans in China this season. Envy Gaming, which owns Dallas Empire and Dallas Fuel from OWL, at Esports Stadium Arlington last month with Fuel playing on stage and Overwatch League fans in attendance.
