Apple fills one of the few (but important) remaining gaps in its video streaming strategy. The tech giant’s Apple TV app is out now available in order NVIDIA shield readers, giving you access to the tastes of Ted Lasso and The Morning Show from one of the best known stand-alone Android TV devices. You can watch in 4K with Dolby Vision HDR, and NVIDIA promotes both Google Assistant playback control and AI upscaling for movies and shows that aren’t 4K native.
This is one of the most expensive ways to add streaming Apple TV – you can have the app for it Google’s $ 50 Chromecast, complete with Dolby Vision support. And that’s assuming it’s not already available on your smart TV or game console. If you already have a Shield or prefer only its higher performance, however, you shouldn’t go out of your way to try out the Apple service.
