Apple Reportedly Asks US Employees To Report Vaccinations

Apple has asked all of its employees in the US to voluntarily report vaccinations. In accordance with BloombergThe company recently sent out a memo asking employees, whether they are currently out of the office or not, to share this information by September 17th. Apple reportedly plans to use the collected data to inform its current response to COVID-19.

Bloomberg The company reportedly told employees it would keep the vaccine “confidential and safe” by aggregating information, but said this could change in the future. “It is possible that your vaccination status could be used in an identifiable manner in conjunction with other information about your general work environment, such as the location of your building, if we determine or, if required, this information is necessary to ensure a healthy and safe work environment,” says a message from Apple. It is unclear what consequences the employee will face if he does not submit his vaccination status by the deadline.

Unlike Google, Apple currently does not require employees to be vaccinated before they arrive at the office. However, the company began to push its employees more decisively in this direction. For example, he recently launched a campaign to encourage workers to get a chance.

The company’s request and recognition that information that employees share with it may be used in an identifiable manner is driven by Apple’s increased focus on how it maintains the privacy of its employees. Recent report from Facets described in detail some of the company’s policies in this direction. For example, one such policy prohibits employees from wiping their work devices before returning them to the company. This latest policy could further exacerbate these fears.
