Amazon announces work on Tomb Raider movie

Yesterday it was on the news that Phoebe Waller-Bridge created a television adaptation for the long-running Crystal Dynamics game. Tomb Runner Franchise for Prime Video. By itself, this information would not be too surprising; Amazon has become a habit adaptation of thingsand we are in a period where any and every game seems to become television or film.

But this news came before additional information from Hollywood Reporter revealed that the streamer also plans to add tomb Raider movie in the mix. This will be the first film from the cinematic version of the 2018 reboot games.f 2010s starring Alicia Vikander and Walton Goggins and later tomb Raider movie rights became available last year. The film is said to be part of Amazon’s larger effort to create an interconnected tomb Raider Universe. The movie will be connected to the Waller Bridge TV. Showand both from those will be related to the upcoming tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics, which Amazon plans to publish for PC and consoles. And it is likely that future games from Crystal Dynamics or other studios may be related to this universe that the streamer is preparing.

Sources who spoke to THR commented on this. tomb Raider is one of Amazon’s biggest commitments so far, which is saying something since the tech giant has spent hundreds millions for TV rights for Lord of the Rings. One piece of Lara Croft-related media that doesn’t seem to matter much Amazon plans include tomb Raider anime on Netflix, which was announced back in 2021 and (last we checked) will star Hayley Atwell as a treasure hunter.

What means tomb Raider Universe looks like? I think we’ll find out when Amazon releases more information about the series or movie, or when Crystal Dynamics comes up with some teasing plot about Lara Croft’s return.
