Walt Disney Animation Studios has been delivering charming animated films to the masses since 1937. His 60th feature film, Encanto, is critically acclaimed as one of the best.

The film, due in theaters ahead of Thanksgiving, is about the Madrigals, a family that lives in the Colombian mountains in a place called Encanto.

The family arrived in Encanto after Abuela Alma was forced to flee home with her triplets. She was given a miracle that gave her a magical home and gave every child in the family unique gifts – except for Mirabelle.

However, when the magic surrounding Encanto is in jeopardy, causing the foundation of the house to crack and the Madrigals’ powers to fade, Mirabelle is alone to take a step and figure out how to stop it.

The film received critical acclaim for its animation style, variety and “mesmerizing” songs. It currently has a 93% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes out of 82 reviews.

“Disney’s 60th animated film is one of the best,” said Scott Mendelssohn in his Forbes review of the film.

“Even with some dark undertones and occasionally dark thematic elements, this is an overall joyful and excitingly colorful fantasy that will once again make us realize how many visual wonders we take for granted in modern animation,” he wrote.
