United Nations Agricultural Development Agency, IFAD, supports many environmental initiatives around the world that are helping smallholder farmers adapt to a changing climate, making them more resilient to shocks and changing the lives of people in rural areas.

These range from alternating pastures in Tajikistan that prevent overgrazing; restoration of mangrove forests in The Gambia, which strengthens the local ecosystem and increases biodiversity; and the Laos Soil Fertility Project, which increases food production for the community.
