Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings continues to dominate the box office. The latest Marvel film tops the charts for the fourth weekend in a row and is now the highest grossing domestic film of 2021.

Since its debut on September 3, Shang Chi has grossed $ 196.5 million in the US and Canada, surpassing ticket sales for Universal’s F9 and another Marvel movie, Black Widow.

“Shang-Chi fans are still drawn to the multiplex to see the latest Marvel extravaganza as Disney’s first theatrical strategy continues to pay big dividends for the film,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore.

Shang Chi was one of the first Disney blockbusters to be released only in theaters during the pandemic. His performance prompted the studio to release the remainder of its 2021 slate exclusively in theaters.

Globally, Shang Chi raised $ 363.4 million, the fourth largest catch in 2021.

“The film screening is a compelling statement of how lucrative theater exclusivity remains for the industry ecosphere, and a signal of what satisfying films can do as the box office recovery prepares for the next phase, starting with a packed October issue,” said Sean Robbins. … chief analyst at
