How rising UK COVID cases could be a ‘strong case for revaccination’

Former Obama White House political director Dr.Cavita Patel explained why growing number of Covid cases in the United Kingdom can be a compelling argument for booster shots.

“What is happening is … a real experiment in which AstraZeneca’s performance is declining and they haven’t deployed their boosters,” Patel said in an interview Tuesday night on CNBC News with Shepard Smith. “That’s an argument for boosters, and pretty compelling.”

The early introduction of vaccination in the UK began in December 2020 and was one of the first in the world. However, this is now believed to contribute to a high incidence of morbidity due to a growing body of data showing that immunity declines in vaccinated individuals after about six months.

The spread of the much more contagious variant of Delta-Covid in the spring and summer is also seen as a factor reducing the effectiveness of the vaccine.

In September, the UK began offering booster shots for people over 50, medical personnel and anyone with underlying medical conditions. Those who received a second dose at least six months ago are asked to speak first. Approximately 6.5 million people in England are currently eligible for booster vaccinations, with the National Health Service having conducted approximately 3.6 million boosters to date. data show

Patel told host Shepard Smith that she is also monitoring the Covid strain, which potentially contributes to the UK’s one of the worst daily infection rates in the world.

“We are seeing something like a sub-line of a delta strain, something very specific, which is increasing in percentage in the UK … it is likely that it is more transmissible than delta, which makes it easier to spread. even more contagious than delta, Patel said.

In the USA New York Times reported that the FDA is expected to clear Johnson & Johnson and Moderna boosters and authorize combo shots this week.
