Former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized Tuesday night for treatment for a non-Covid infection, his spokesman said.

Clinton spokesman Angel Urena said late Tuesday that the former president had been hospitalized at the University of California Irvine Medical Center.

“He is recovering, in good spirits, and is incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff who have provided him with excellent care,” said Urena.

Clinton’s doctors in a joint statement said he was hospitalized for “close observation” and was injected with intravenous antibiotics and fluids.

“He remains in the hospital for constant monitoring,” said his doctors Alpesh Amin and Liza Bardak. “After two days of treatment, he has a tendency to decrease his white blood cell count and responds well to antibiotics.”

They said the California medical team is in “constant contact” with the president’s team in New York, including his cardiologist.

“We hope he goes home soon,” the statement said.
