Disney’s Karim Daniel became the fourth new CEO to join McDonald’s board this year.
The fast food giant announced on Monday that the Disney veteran of more than 15 years has become its 15th board member effective October 1.
Daniel currently leads Disney’s media and entertainment distribution group, overseeing the growth of its streaming services, TV channels and theatrical film rentals. He is considered the right hand of Disney CEO Bob Chapek.
Previously, Daniel has held leadership roles in the company’s corporate strategy, Walt Disney Imagineering, consumer products, games and publishing teams. He is a native of Chicago, where McDonald’s is headquartered.
McDonald’s said in August that longtime McDonald’s director Sheila Penrose was stepping down, a decision that came after billionaire investor Carl Icahn tried to replace her through a proxy battle. The company simultaneously announced the appointment of three new board members, who took their seats on Saturday.
