“Danger!” closes hosting deals for Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings

Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings have signed a hosting agreement for Jeopardy! statement by executive producer Michael Davis.

The two acted as hosts on an interim basis. The deal also ended a tumultuous struggle for the seat of longtime host Alex Trebek, who died in November 2020.

Bialik, a neuroscientist and actor best known for her roles in Bloom and The Big Bang Theory, was named co-host with Mike Richards in August 2021. Richards, who served as the show’s executive producer, was soon removed from the role. after making offensive statements and multiple discrimination lawsuits against him.

Jennings, who holds the record for most consecutive Jeopardy! wins, helped share the duties with Bialik after Richards left. “Danger!” says its two-host audience has grown to over 27 million a week, making it “the most watched variety show on all of television.”

Jennings is due to start the season in September and host the Tournament of Champions. Bialik will host “Celebrity Jeopardy!” before taking the podium on the original “Jeopardy!” in January.

Davis said that the show would not “flip” the hosts, noting that viewers appreciate consistency. He stated that they would be working on Bialik’s schedule while she was filming the Fox sitcom Call Me Kat.

David Faber of CNBC was among the nominees for the Jeopardy! host role, as did Katie Couric and LeVar Burton, among others.
