Chelsea sack Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel for six matches in the Premier League season.
Chelsea are expected to approach Brighton later on Wednesday for permission to speak with Graham Potter about the manager’s vacancy. Chelsea also want to talk to Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane, who have both been out of work.

Todd Boly sacked Tuchel just three months after completing his takeover by the club. Boli continues to serve as athletic director, taking over from director Marina Granovskaya, chairman Bruce Buck and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech this summer in a move that completely changed the era of Roman Abramovich.
Sky Sports News understands that Chelsea have been considering this decision for some time and it is not a reflex reaction to Tuesday’s Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb.
The new owner has had misgivings for some time and has been considering other options. Now they want a long-term contract to move Chelsea forward.

“As the new ownership group is 100 days old from taking over the club, and as they continue their hard work to move the club forward, the new owners feel the time is right for this transition.
“The Chelsea coaching staff will take charge of the team’s training and preparations for upcoming matches as the club quickly prepares to appoint a new head coach.”
Tuchel said he was angry at himself for a “huge setback” during the loss to Dinamo Zagreb – his 100th and last game in charge – and suggested that his team currently lacks hunger and determination.
This summer, Chelsea invested a Premier League record £273m to renew their squad.
